WORN IN
Worn in explores the deeply personal nature of a favorite T-Shirt. For this photoshoot I set up a simple studio setting in an effort to display the subjects and their T-Shirts as works of art. I shot this series on a Nikkormat 35mm film camera. This was my first ever experience with film photography which ultimately added a new challenge and distinct personal
feeling to the imagery.
INK DIFFERENT: Tattoo Diaries
The next photo concept shoot is titled "INK DIFFERENT: Tattoo Diaries". As the name suggest this series celebrates those who have beautiful and meaningful tattoos. I believe that tattoos have the power to reveal a lot about their owner's values, identity and story. Each subject chose their own location that felt relevant to their tattoo, which made each experience completely unique. This series was also shot on Nikkormat 35mm.
INFRA-READ: An exploration in Aura Photography
When thinking about the concept of capturing a person's essence in photo I immediately thought of Magic Jewelry in Soho, New York. They are one of the few places that owns a specialized Infrared camera which captures a person's electromagnetic field through a double exposure. The colors shown represent the aura around the subject. For this piece a few friends and I went to Magic Jewelry to have our aura portraits taken. Each color represents something specific, learn how to read the photos in the last slide.
WHAT'S IN THE BAG?
This photo series is different from the others because instead of using people as my subjects, I photographed their belongings instead, but kept the intention of creating a portrait of a person. This series features the bags that people carry around as well as the contents inside of it. Each persons personality and identity was revealed through what they carry around on a day to day basis. This series was shot digitally to add a dynamic element to the imagery.
BETWEEN THE LINES
This graphic piece explores graphology, or in other words, the study of handwriting. Whole researching for this piece I learned that your handwriting can reveal as many as 5,000 physical or emotional characteristics about you. Since know two people can have the same handwriting, there is a clear unique quality to it. I collected samples of peoples handwriting through a favorite song lyric and displayed them in a chaotic mess of a collage. The intention was to give off the appearance of a signed yearbook, with each passages encoding the identity of it's writer.
